The Rainbow Rosefish, also known as the Red Coral Ghostfish, Rainbow Coral
Bass, or 七彩玫瑰鱼, is a tropical marine fish with the scientific name
“Pseudanthias squamipinnis.” The Seven-Color Rosefish is a small tropical fish
found in coral reef waters around the world, beloved for its beautiful colors
and adaptability. As an ornamental fish, keeping Seven-Color Rosefish is very
popular among aquarium enthusiasts.
The Seven-Color Rosefish typically measures about 5 to 8 centimeters in length, with a slightly flattened, perch-like body.
Their bodies are a vivid red or orange-red, with blue fins and multiple blue spots along the sides.
The edges of their fins are usually translucent.
There are slight morphological differences between males and females, with males typically being more vibrantly colored.

The Seven-Color Rosefish primarily inhabits tropical coral reef regions, particularly in the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
They are schooling fish that often form small groups and dwell under the shelter of coral.
This species feeds mainly on plankton and benthic organisms.
The Rainbow Rosefish is not typically targeted by commercial fishing but is highly popular as an ornamental fish in aquariums and reef tanks.
Due to their beautiful appearance and unique colors, they hold significant value in the aquarium market. For wildlife, particularly tropical fish, it is crucial to protect coral reefs and natural habitats, and to purchase ornamental fish from legal sources.
Rainbow rosefish typically inhabit coral reef regions in tropical oceans and do not exhibit seasonal migratory patterns like some other fish species. Therefore, they can be found in suitable habitats throughout the year. These fish are primarily distributed in the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, including but not limited to Indonesia, the Philippines, the Great Barrier Reef, and Hawaii.
Clownfish primarily inhabit the rocks and corals near coral reefs, seeking shelter and foraging for food. As demersal fish in coral reef areas, they can be found in these locations where water temperatures and environmental conditions are suitable.
The Seven-colored Rosefish does not migrate in large numbers with seasonal changes but remains in its typical habitats year-round. However, the coral reef ecosystem itself may be influenced by seasonal meteorological and oceanographic conditions, such as water temperature, tides, and the breeding seasons of marine organisms, and these factors may have some impact on the Seven-colored Rosefish’s habits and behavior.
